Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability

Training at MATS involves strenuous physical effort, free weights and equipment, partner-based work with other members, and hands-on coaching. It carries a real risk of injury — and, though rare, of serious injury or death. You are taking part voluntarily.

By agreeing below you release MATS Boston LLC, its owners, coaches, staff and the owners of the premises from claims for injury, illness, death or property damage arising from your participation, including harm caused by their ordinary negligence — but not from gross negligence, recklessness or intentional misconduct, which are never released.

Please read the full Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability at matsboston.com/policies before you agree.

Your health

You confirm that you are in good enough health to exercise strenuously, or that you have discussed it with a doctor and been cleared to train. You agree to tell your coach about any injury, condition, pregnancy, surgery or medication that affects how you should train, and to tell them as soon as anything changes. If something hurts, stop and say so.

MATS does not provide medical advice. Nothing a coach says is a substitute for a doctor.

Billing and cancellation

Memberships renew automatically until you cancel. Your next payment date is shown in your account and on every receipt.

You can cancel any time yourself from My Subscriptions in your MATS account — the same place you signed up — or by emailing info@matsboston.com. Please give 7 days' notice before your renewal date; your current cycle runs to its end.

Class bookings: cancel at least 8 hours before the class starts and the session returns to your balance. A late cancel or no-show uses the session. Your first one in any 12 months is waived automatically.

Photos and video

MATS sometimes photographs and films classes for its website and social media. This is entirely optional — leave the box unticked and you can still train exactly as normal. You can change your mind any time by telling a coach or emailing us, and you can ask us not to shoot on a given day.

Waiver version 2.0 — effective 31 August 2026
